Sports nutrition

Sports nutrition is dietary supplements, nutraceuticals and food concentrates designed for people who are actively involved in sports and are designed to improve sports performance: increase strength and endurance, increase muscle mass, etc. Sports nutrition is made on the basis of scientific research in various fields, such as physiology and dietetics, but quackery often progresses along with this.

Biologically active food supplements (BAA) are compositions of biologically active substances (identical to natural ones) intended for direct intake with food or incorporation into food products. Biologically active food additives (as well as sports nutrition) are obtained in the form of pharmaceutical forms – powders, tablets, capsules, syrups, extracts, infusions, concentrates. Nevertheless, they cannot be identified with food additives, which are dyes, antioxidants, emulsifiers, corrective substances that alter the organoleptic properties of products, but do not have biological activity.

Dietary supplements in most cases belong to the class of natural food components and have pronounced physiological and pharmacological effects on the basic regulatory and metabolic processes of the human body. Unlike medicines, dietary supplements are not medicines and are sold in pharmacies or sports nutrition stores without prescriptions; it is believed that side effects do not have even at significant dosages. Some dietary supplements are recommended for use by children from 6-8 years.

Popular dietary supplements: fish fat, omega-3, fiber, chitosan, chromium picolinate.

This list can be continued, as well as a description of the properties and directions of the effects of additives.

The choice of the class you need depends on the goals that you set for yourself when you come to the gym. For example, if you want to lose weight, but the classical methods of dealing with excess weight did not help you, then you can start taking medications that allow you to use excess fat to increase stamina (we are talking about fat burners). If you need to gain muscle mass, then drugs belonging to the categories of gainers, proteins, anabolic complexes, etc. are suitable. Also, in the range of sports nutrition there are drugs for restoring strength and energy that normalize the general metabolism and many functions of the body.
